Today in class we talked about grouping like terms when doing a question that has more than one of that kind of number. Grouping like terms is another way of saying simplify. An example of that is if your question asks you what positive 3, plus positive 5, plus negative 8, and plus negative 10. To make this question easier, you add the two positive numbers together, and add the two negative numbers together to get only one positive and negative number. So the question now would be what positeve 8, and plus negative 18 be. Below will be 5 questions from today's homework.

1. The temperature starts at -25 degrees C, drops 33 degrees C, rises 3 degrees C, and rises 8 degrees C.

(-25)+(-13)+(+3)+(+8)=
(-38)+(+11)= 27 degrees C

2. A person starts with $350, earns $122, spends $155, earns $183, and spends $29.

(+350)+(+122)+(-115)+(+183)+(-29)=
(+655)+(-144)= $511

3. Gloria is 52 kg. She gains 5 kg, loses 7 kg, gains 9 kg, and loses 14 kg.
(+52)+(+5)+(-7)+(+9)+(-14)+
(+66)+(-21)= 45 kg

4. The temperature starts at 32 degrees C, drops 8 degrees C, drops 3 degrees C, and drops 12 degrees C.
(+32)+(-8)+(-3)+(-12)=
(+32)+(-23)= 9 degrees C

5. A submarine starts at sea level, dives down 135 m, dives another 77 m, and rises 72 m.
(0)+(-135)+(-77)+(+72)=
(-212)+(+72)= -240 m
