Scribe post for Nov.26

Wednesday, November 26, 2008
Hey guys ! Today in class we did a QUIZ!

We had 10 questions as usual, and we had 20 minutes to do them.
Our first question was..

As we all should know , -3+(-5)=-8 and (-8)-(11)= ----->-19<-----

2)

Now, (5)(-4)=-20 & (-2)(-1)=(2)(-6)=-12
(-12)+(-20)=---->-32<-----

3)

6(-2)= -12 & (-3)(1)=-3
(-12)(-3)=36 & -3(3)=-9
(36)/(-9)=---->-4<-------

4)

(-5+19)= 14 & 6(-1)=-6

(14)+(-6)=8

8/-4=---->-2<-------

Well, I guess that is it because Mr. Harbeck told me to do the first 4 questions! (:
Anyways.. yeeaah, BYE & comment like crazy!
Oh right , and the scribe for monday is .. KEVIN ! haha. >x)

    Great Job Lara. I really liked your use of colour in this scribe. Also, the questions are easy to read.

    I found a couple of errors, though. Some were minor spelling and grammar mistakes. Another one was question 4. I really couldn't understand it. The negative six, was on the next line. Making it difficult to read.

    Other than your errors, I feel your scribe was fantastic! ☺ ☻

    Good Job Lara. Thanks for putting up questions and I like your use of colors. It's a pretty short scribe but its ok because you did everything that you're suppose to do. Maybe it's better to refresh everything like the barn and stuff. Over-all GOOD JOB;P.

    Hello, Lara. Generally speaking, this is a relevtively short scribe, so I'll keep my comment concise (:
    For the first question, you don't exactly need to include your personal comments, such as "As we all should know", and the "and" part. I think it would be easier on your part to make each question a picture, and if the picture question was shown vertically, you could identify where you made changes, and what you did. All I'm saying is, it would be a lot easier.
    Again, for the second question, basically I have the same thoughts; You don't need the "&", and since you did add the "&" It should be "and". The reason for my saying a picture for each question would be easier, is because having a picture would be more clear, shorter. Also, you're able to see what you did, to get the correct answer. Or, what you did wrong, to get the incorrect answer.
    Now, for a good portion of your scribe (actually, all of it...) You did arrows (-----> <-----) pointing to each answer. It would be a lot easier on your typing fingers, if you just bolded the answer, or changed it to a different colour. I'm not saying your scribe isn't colourful (although it only has blue, and black, and I suppose white?) it's just it would make sense.
    Your conclusion is nicely done. I've just got a few minor conflicts... I'll write them in point form, so I won't waste too much of your time. :)
    -the "4" in your first sentence of your conclusion should be said as "four" .
    -you wrote "yeeaah" to emphasize the word, but you should italisize instead.
    - You wrote "Oh right , " . It should be "Oh righ, " No space before punctuation. Space after the punctuation.

    So, I guess that's it for me. Other than those comments, I've got nothing but good things to say. Good job, Lara.

    OH! Yes, yes, I know what you're thinking: The Urban Duckie is back... That's okay, though. Here is a little advice for you! Next time you scribe, try to use videos, links, and try to review a bit. It would make your post a lot more lengthy!

    Good job Lara^^. You went through the questions on the test and I didn't see any mistakes but that's just me. Easy to see and read. I wished you could of explain more carefully on the questions, but other then that GOOD JOB, Beautiful Scribe!(:

    Nice job Lara! However there were some errors. On your first picture (for the first question) you put (-8)-(11) and then you put "As we all should know". This isn't really an error but I think that you should put what we all should know eg. Do the step that you missed which is: (-8)+(-11). Also (as Linda has said) you might want to keep those little comments to yourself because they do distract people away from the main message (answering the actual question). Also on your first "little comment" right beside it you put ,- which should be on the next line like so: -3+(-5)=-8. Another thing that could be remedied with this question would be to do the step in which you identify the first negative sign as an order of operations sign and thus make it a (-1). Another big thing that I think would make this post really clear would be for you to make all the answering of the questions pictures because that way you'd probably have less errors (like the ones mentioned above) and it would be clearer. This would also allow you to put a dividing sign that we all recognize from class (an actual sign or a "goes into" or a fraction). Other than these few things your scribe is great as everyone else that commented before me has said. One more thing though, I know it seems like a long list of things to fix but it would probably take only a little while to fix. Now I'll be quiet...at least...on this comment...

    Okay...I promised I'd be quiet but I noticed something else! Your arrows (which were in almost all of your question answers) were a little distracting. But it's quite easy to fix because quite obviously you'd just remove them and leave the equals sign. Now I'll be quiet...for real this time.

    Nice scribe Lara! I really like how you made the questions big, so that some people won't get confused with the equation, and your work. I didn't really spot any mistakes, but maybe adding the opposite, instead of subtracting would make it easier for some people to understand, that's how we learned it in class anyway. Oh, and I'm the next scribe... :O

    Good job on this scribe post! There is just one thing that you could possibly work on for your next scribe post: ensure that your examples all line up, since it makes it easier for everyone to read. Good job on using colour to make it easier to understand though.

    Keep up the good work!
