Pythagoras(the man, the myth, the legend)

For a while now, we have received an assignment about a very intelligent greek mathematician. His name is Pythagoras. He is "uber" smart, well thats what Mr. Habeck said and I am thinking he is too. Before, he was considered as a lunatic by other people of his time. sadly, his death came at age 90. Pythagoras made a theorem called the "Pythagorean Theorem". I am supposed to try to explain to you how to do this theorum and hopefully you will learn. By the way, the theorem is a2(squared)+b2(squared)=c2(squared).

You can also do:
c2-b2=a2
c2-a2=b2

You need to know these key words:
Legs-Shorter than the hypotenuse. Comes out of the right angle. Each triangle always has 2 legs.
Hypotenuse-The longest side of the triangle and opposite the right angle.
R.A.T-Right Angle Triangles
Greek-People who live or came from Greece
Theorem-A math statement that has to be proven right or true.

You should also know this:
Two angles that equal 90 degrees celsius are called complimentary angles.
Angles that make a straight line equal 180 degrees celsius, and 2 angles are called supplementary angles.
This is how you should label your right angle triangles.

One way to remember how to label the sides with a, b and c is to know this:

leg 1=altitude(a)

leg 2=base(b)

hypotenuse=c

Now I am going to show you an example of a right angle triangle and how to find the numbed for the missing side.

As you can see B is the mystery side that we need to find out. So you use the following math statement.

c2-a2=b2

Then you substitute the letters with the information you already know.

50 2-30 2=b2

Then you multiply 50 by 50 and 30 by 30.

2500-900=b2

You subtract the 2 numbers.

1600=b2

You then find the square root of 1600 which is 40.

40=As you can see, each square has 2 right angle triangles.

Has 4 right angles, sides, and corners.

It is 360 degrees all around.

Each triangle should be 180 degrees around.

A square has all its sides equal.

Here is a video me and my friends made. Enjoy

    wow! that video was so hard to see but that all made since. It was exactly what my &th grade math teacher taught my class.

    What did this have to do about Pythagorus the man, the myth, and the legend. It just was equations
