Scribe Post for April 15

Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Fractions is what we did today. We checked our homework and all that, and received homework.

Homework list:
  • Adding Mixed Fractions/Numbers (Don't have to make pictures)
  • Subtracting Fractions (Must be completed with pictures shown in notebook)

First of all, Mr. Harbeck recommends this method of adding mixed numbers:
1) Add the whole numbers first
2) Add the fractions
3) Then put them together, done.

Questions: Mixed Numbers

By using the method above, we solved this simple fraction problem.
3 1/3 + 2 1/4 3+2 = 5
1/3 + 1/4
4/12 + 3/12
7/12
5 7/12

Questions: Subtracting Fractions

And I choose Jai to be the next scribe.

    Great Job!
I loved your post! The pictures were so clear and colorful. Your post explained how to add fractions. This helped me with my homework.
I think that you did a great job, but I found some errors. Some are spelling/grammar mistakes. Like in the first sentence you said "Fractions is what we did today." Isn't it supposed to be 'Fractions are what we did today.'
But other than that, I think you did an awesome job! ☺
