The Contest (Part 2)

Part 2 (continued)

The judge called the number 30, It was me

"Guys, It's me!" I said, pointing at the number on my shirt.

"We'll... Good luck!" Karen and Joysie said.

I walked up to the front of the stage, I kept thinking, what if I went wrong ? We would lose the money and the prizes plus I would let my friends down. But I couldn't, I knew I could do this.

"Number 30, we need you to answer two questions and tell us how you did it please." The judge said as if she's been saying it all morning.

"Okay." i said leaning in front of me for the microphone.

"What is the answer for negative twenty-two minus negative ten?"

I knew this question, It was pretty simple. I imagined this picture-

(-22)-(-10)=?

Mr.Harbeck told us about changing the negative into a positive like this-

(-22)+(+10)=?

Now, twenty-two minus 10 equals twelve.. so the answer should be negative twelve!

"The answer is negative twelve, and I got that answer by changing the negatives into positives and adding them."

"Correct, now the next question." She said reading the papers on her desk. " What is the answer for positive two minus negative ten plus positive ten?"

She imagined a picture like this-

(+2)-(-10)+(+10)=?

Now, I would have to deal with the first 2 numbers, and then change the negatives into a positive.

(+2)+(+10)+(+10)=?

(+2)+(+10)=+12

Now, add the remaining integer with the positive twelve.

(+12)+(+10)=+22

The answer is twenty-two!

"Then answer is twenty-two, and I got that by first changing the negatives into positives and then adding the first two numbers which would equal positive twelve, and then add the remaining integer."

"Correct!" The Judge said."You can go now."

I walked back to my chair, my heart beating fast.

Joysie and Karen were both smiling.

"Yaay!" Joysie said happily.

"Soon it will be your turn Karen." I said as I sat down.

"I know." Karen said worried.

I was looking at the crowd and the other kids around me until i stopped and stared at this one girl. Could it be? I thought.

The girl turned around. It was Elmane.

The Integer Killer

Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Its a cold Canadian winter night a scream echoes through the streets of Winnipeg."so wheres the body?" "Its right over here." My name is Tanner Goodwin I work at the Winnipeg police department in the crime scene investigation unit. Right now I'm working on the murder case of a young homeless girl on portage and main but so far the only clue is an integer question and a message written in blood. the question isn't to complex it is (-9)+(+41)=? the message says " solve the question and the answer will lead you to your next clue on Arlington st. So I solved the problem it was easy (-9)+(+41)=+38.

So I told the team where I was going and I moved onto the next clue at 38 Arlington st. when I arrived I noticed that the building was not a house but a warehouse so I walked in the front door and turned on the light and saw another dead body with another note and another question written in blood. the note was the same as before but stated that the next clue was on oxford street so I solved the question this one was a little harder (-51)+(+14)+(+51) but then I noticed that there was a zero pair so I easily solved the question called the team in and headed of to 14 oxford st.

When I got there I noticed that this one was a church so I went into the church and Inside the confession booth was yet another body and yet another question and note written in blood the note was also the same but the street was inkster ave. The question was (-63)+(+26)+(+48)=.The question was a little bit harder but I was able to solve it the answer is +11 so I called in a team, notified the department of a serial killer and sped off to 11 inkster ave.

When I got there I noticed that this was the first killing in a house so I kicked down the door but luckily there was only one person and once again there was a note and a question but the note said " congratulations Mr.Goodwin you've made it quite far but will you be able to catch me? the next clue will be on wall st." The question is (-44)+(+54)+(+1564). So I called the team and headed out to 1574 wall st. but soon I would catch the killer.

Bruno's Adventure On Integers

Monday, October 27, 2008
Bruno was a monkey and lived in a tree house. One morning, he woke up and went to do his daily routine. Eating a lot of bananas was part of his daily routine. He went into the kitchen and realized that all of his bananas were gone. Bruno was confused and shocked but had an urge to find his bananas.

Bruno went outside and everything looked the same except there was some kind of object. Bruno ran to the object. It was a treasure chest with a lock on it. There was a picture beside the treasure chest. it was a math question, an integer question. The question was (+11)+(-1). In order for Bruno to open the treasure chest, he must answer the question correctly because it will complete the code for the lock. Bruno used big rocks to represent positive numbers and smaller rocks to represent negative numbers. He got 11 big rocks and 1 small rock. Bruno realized that 1 negative and 1 positive makes 0. These are called zero pairs. There were only one zero pair, so he took away to zero pair and counted what was left. There were 10 big rocks left which meant the answer to the question is +10. Bruno turned the arrow to the numbers 11, 1, and 10 on the lock and it was right. There was instructions showing where the next treasure chest was.

Bruno followed the instructions and it took him to another treasure chest which was in a garden. Next to the treasure chest was another question. The question was (-16)+(+24). He used pink daisies to represent positive numbers and dandelions representing negative numbers. There was 16 zero pairs since there were more positives than negatives. The answer is +8. Bruno turned the arrow on the lock to 16, 24 and 8. Yet again, he got it right.

The new instructions instructed Bruno to go to a pond. When he got to the pond, he instantly saw the treasure chest. He looked at the question and the question was a little bit more difficult but he wasn't going to give up now. The question was (-7)+(+21)+(-18). Bruno realized that there were 2 negative numbers, so he added them together. This was called group like terms. The question was now (-25)+(+21). It was much more easier for Bruno. He used cattails to represent positive numbers and lily pads to represent negative numbers. There were 21 zero pairs so -4 was left. Bruno spunthe arrow to the numbers 25, 21 and 4.

Marker and the 4 Math Questions

Once upon a time, there was a guy named Marker. This guy was no ordinary guy. He was a kind of person that was rich. The only reason why he was rich was because his mom and dad were king and queen. Since he was a prince, he didn’t have to go to school.
One day, something terrible happened. His castle got destroyed. After his castle got destroyed, the only one that survived was Marker. Marker didn’t know what to do, until he found a leprechaun. When he saw the leprechaun, he followed it. Later on the leprechaun stopped walking. The leprechaun then did a magic spell that made a rainbow. The leprechaun spotted Marker, and then asked Marker if he needed any help. Marker then told the leprechaun that he needed one wish from him. He asked the leprechaun if he could make the castle and his family back. The leprechaun told Marker that he would only let Marker have his wish, if he passed a test. For the test, the leprechaun turned Marker into a marker, and then told Marker to answer 4 math questions. There was only one problem. Marker never went to school. So that means he wouldn’t know any of the math questions that the leprechaun asked him. Since he never went to school, the leprechaun sent Marker to a school and told him that after he graduated school, he would then give him the questions.
When marker finally graduated school, the leprechaun turned Marker into a marker, and then asked him his first question. His first question was, (-7) + (-23) + (+98) + (+2). When Marker saw the question, the first thing that popped into his head was to group like terms. Since he knew to simplify the question, the question became easier to answer. When he simplified the question, this was his question. (-30)+ (+100). Marker was about to put an answer wrong. He was going to put that his answer was (-130). He forgot that when adding a positive number to a negative, you have to take the positive number and subtract it from the negative number. Before he wrote his answer down, he used a number line to help him. Since he used a number line, Marker fixed his mistake, and then got the right answer. His next question was a word problem. His word problem sounded like this. If you had $100, then you earned $50, then spent $32, and spent another$55, how much money would you have? The first thing that Marker did when he saw that question was make it into a math question. He put (+100) + (+50) + (-32) + (-50). After he made it into a math question, he simplified it. When he simplified it, he got (+150) + (-82). His answer at first was (+68). Even though that answer sounds right, it’s wrong. The thing that he forgot about was that he had to change his answer from a math question, into a normal question. But since he checked his answer before putting it down, he got the question right. His next question sounds easy but it is not. His next question was (+9) + (-9). The hard part about this question was that he had to identify what kind of integer his answer was. His answer was right, but now he has to do the other part of the question. For the second part of his question, he had to know what the word was called when something is not positive or negative. To remember that question, he thought back to when he was in school in science class. When he was in science class he remembered that he had to do a project that he had to do at home. His project was called the neutral floating device. Now he knew the second part of his question. His answer was that 0 was a neutral integer. His last question was the hardest out of all his other questions. His last question was (-273)+(+78)+(12)+(-987)+(-6)+(-456). For this question the leprechaun let Marker use a calculator. The mistake that he made this time was that he forgot that to group like terms. But before he put the answer down, he ate a banana. After he finished eating, he just remembered about grouping like terms. The only reason that he forgot about grouping like terms is because he was only thinking about how hungry he was. His answer was (-1632).
Finally, he answered all of the questions right. After he was done answering all of the questions, he got his wish from the leprechaun. After he got his wish, he had his house, and his family back, with something extra. He had an extra smarts. But then something terrible happened.

Marker and the Math Questions Part 2
Previously, Marker got his wish, but then something terrible happened. He had bumped his head so hard on the wall that he lost all of his memory. Since he lost all of his memory, he didn't know anybody anymore.
After a while his mom and dad were very worried. They thought that they would never get Markers memory back until they found a journal that had the words "Markers journal" printed on it. since they were so desperate in getting Markers memory back, they took a look. in the journal was drawings and paragraphs of what he did after his castle, mom and dad disappeared. While they were reading, they found something very strange. They found out that Marker met a leprechaun that gave wishes, and that they wouldn't of been alive if it wasn't for Marker. Also in that journal was the location that Marker found the leprechaun. After they read that part of the journal, they were very excited that they could finally have a way how to get Markers memory back. The journal said that the leprechaun was found right near by their house.
At this point, they were so excited that they both broke a steel desk. Since they were so excited, they decided to go on an adventure to find the leprechaun. When they got outside, the first place they looked was around the house. They couldn't find him. the second place that they looked was anywhere inside the house. The third place they looked was around the whole neighbourhood. Five hours went by and they still couldn't find him until they looked up. When they looked up they saw the leprechaun sitting on their roof eating a Popsicle. When they found the leprechaun, the first thing that they did was look in the journal to see what Marker did when he found the leprechaun. the only problem is that they couldn't find the journal. Markers dad who was named Pen, just remembered that he shredded it because he thought that it was his journal not Marker's.
Since they didn't have the journal anymore, they decided to just climb on top of the roof and catch the leprechaun. When they finally caught the leprechaun, the first thing that they did was ask the leprechaun to give them a wish and why they needed it. Since the leprechaun was so nice, he let them have the wish without answering any questions only in one condition. When the leprechaun gives Marker his memory back, Marker has to answer his questions. Since they were so desperate in getting Markers memory back, they agreed.
When Marker got his memory back, the leprechaun right away asked him the questions. The first question was a warm up question. The question was (-9)-(+9). Markers first answer was 0 but now he remembered that he was doing subtracting not adding. Since he remembered that, he got his question right.

The second question was a little bit harder than the last question. The question was (+9)-(-4)-(2). Marker's answer was right because he remembered to change all of the subtraction questions into and addition question.

The third question was tricky. The question was -(-3)-(-3). This question is tricky because there is a floating negative symbol. Even though this was one of the tricky questions, Marker knew what to do. He knew to change the first negative three into a positive 3 because of the floating negative symbol.
The last question was very tricky. Instead of just one number in the brackets, there were two. The question was -(-5-3)-(8-3). The only way that Marker got this question right was by cheating. He used a calculator. His answer was 3. After he answered all of the questions, he was allowed to keep his memory, and everyone was happy again.

Marker and the 4 Math Questions Part 3

Previously, Marker bumped his head. After he bumped his head he lost all of his memory. Since he lost all of his memory, his mom and dad didn't know how to get his memory back until they found Markers journal. With the journal, they were able to find the leprechaun, and get Markers memory back. When Marker got his memory back, he had to answer 4 math questions to keep his memory. He successfully answered all the questions right except for one mistake. He cheated on the last question because he didn't know what the answer was.
Since Marker cheated, he hasn't been able to sleep in knowing that he cheated on that last question. He would of the leprechaun sooner, but he didn't wan to disappoint him. He felt so bad because the leprechaun only gave me and my family a second chance because he trusted me.

When Marker finally got a chance to talk to the leprechaun, he didn't tell the truth because the leprechaun looked so happy to see Marker. Even though Marker messed up the first time, he didn't on the second time. When Marker finally told the leprechaun that he cheated, he thought that the leprechaun would get mad at him. But instead, the leprechaun stayed calm. He stayed calm because when he was a kid, he would always cheat in school. He also told Marker that he was glad that he cheated because he really wanted Marker to keep his memory.

Even though the leprechaun wasn't mad about the whole cheating thing, The leprechaun still made Marker answer 4 math questions. But this time the wishes were a test to see how much Marker knows about math. But instead of subtracting integers, this time it was both subtracting and addition questions in the same questions.
The first question was an easy question. the question was 5+(-6)-4-(-2). The first thing that popped up into Markers mind was to change this whole question into an addition question. the way that Marker did that was by making the subtraction signs into a positive and the integer beside it, only if the question was telling you to subtract a negative. The question that Marker got now was 11-6. Now Marker could answer it properly. he got 5 as an answer.

The second question was really easy if you knew your zero pairs. The question was (-9)-(-8)+9. For this question Marker right away saw the zero pair. Since he saw the zero pair, his answer was -8 because that was the only integer left after you take the zero pairs away.
The third question was a little bit harder because it had a floating negative sign in it. The question was -(-3)+7-(3)+5. For this question, the first thing that he did was changed the first number into a positive number because of the floating negative sign. Then he added negative 3 to 3 and got 0. The last thing that he did was add 7 and five because it was the last numbers left.
The last question was the hardest question was the hardest out of all the question that the leprechaun asked Marker because it has two integers in one bracket. His question was (8-10)-(-7+5)+9. For this question, Marker was very smart now. So this question was really easy to him. He got the answer right away. His answer was 10.

After Marker answered all of the questions correctly, the leprechaun got so old that he retired from his job. Since Marker and his family were so grateful, they let the leprechaun live with them for the rest of his life so he has a place to stay when he finishes work.
The leprechaun, Marker and his family all lived happily ever after.

SpongeBobs Quest For The Missing Integer Patty

Chapter 1: Spongebob`s Quest For The Missing Integer Patty
One day when Spongebob arrived at the Krusty Krab, he saw Mr. Krabs crying. Then Spongebob asked Mr.Krabs what`s wrong, and Mr.Krabs said that the special integer patty is missing, and Spongebob is the only one for the job. As soon as Mr.Krabs stopped talking Spongebob rushed out the door to look for the missing integer patty. Spongebob took his car and Patrick to find the patty. Spongebob and Patrick was driving around the town when they came across a huge gate. Spongebob tried to open gate, then when he touched the gate an integer question appeared: (+12) + (-23): have 12 and owe 23. Spongebob answered the question and the answer that he got is -11. So he yelled out the answer -11 and the gate opened. Then they drove through the open gate and they continued their quest for the missing integer patty.

Then Spongebob and Patrick kept on going. While they were driving they came upon a strange guy waiting for a car, and he was on the side of the highway. So they stopped and gave the guy a ride. As they were driving, the strange guy pulled out a fake gun and he tried to steal the car from Spongebob and Patrick. The strange guy told them to get out of the car, and then the guy drove away with it. Spongebob and Patrick didn`t know what to do so they thought that they should walk, and find someone to help them. While they were walking they saw a bus, and the bus stopped, so they got in. The bus kept on going. Then when the bus was almost near the gas station. Spongebob and Patrick got out. When the bus left they saw a restaurant. Spongebob thought that the integer patty might be inside, but the only way to find out was to check. So they walked over to the restaurant, and as they were going in, a big security guard stopped them. The guard said that they can only get in if they answer the question correctly. The question is (+6) + (-6). Patrick tried to answer the question and his answer is -3, and the guard said that it was wrong. Then Spongebob tried to answer the question, but he didn`t know the answer, so he used a number line to help him.

Then Spongebob said that the answer is 0, because (+6) +(-6) is a zero pair. Spongebob got it right so the guard let them go in.

Spongebob and Patrick didn`t find the integer patty. They kept on on walking and walking, even though it was dark outside. As they were walking they saw two bicycles, and they took it with them. Spongebob and Patrick kept on biking until they saw a bunch of big muscular guys standing in the middle of the road. The big guys stopped Spongebob and Patrick, and the guys said that they can`t go through, and that the only way they can go through is to answer question using tiles, and the question is (-10) + (+2). Spongebob and Patrick arranged the tiles by making zero pairs, and they got 2 zero pairs and there answer is -8. The muscular guys said that they could go in, they also said that they should be careful.

After they got through, Spongebob and Patrick continued their quest for the missing integer patty. Then they kept on biking until they saw a huge bridge. When they got to the bridge, it was closed, and that no one can open it, unless they anser the question in less than 10 seconds. So the question appeared and it was (+8) +(+2). Spongebob answered quickly and he yelled out +10, and he was right, and the bridge door opened. When Spongebob got to the middle of the bridge he saw one fourth of the integer patty, but he couldn`t find the rest.

Find out what will happen next on Spongebobs quest for the missing integer patty.

To Be Continued..............

Chapter 2: Spongebob`s Quest For The Missing Integer Patty
Spongebob and Patrick only found 1/4 of the missing integer patty. So they continued their quest for the missing integer patty. Spongebob and Patrick kept on going. While they were biking, they came upon a huge cave. While they were looking for the integer patty, a huge monster appeared in front of them. The monster said that they cannot go through, unless they answer the question correctly, and they have to use algebra tiles. The question is (-4)-(-3).Spongebob tried figuring out the answer using algebra tiles.[Photo]Spongebob told the monster that the answer is -1. Spongebob was right, so the monster disappeared, and they were able to go through.Spongebob and Patrick kept on searching inside the cave.
Then another monster appeared, but this time it's more hairy and scary. Then the monster said that they can only get through if they answer the question correctly using a number line. The question is (-3)-(-7)(-3)+(+7)=+4So Patrick drew a number line:[Photo]So Patrick showed the monster the number line and the answer, and Patrick was right. So the monster told them to go pass. Spongebob was so proud of Patrick, so he gave him a hug.Spongebob and Patrick continued their quest for the missing integer patty. While they were walking inside the cave, the floor started to crack, and Spongebob and Patrick fell down in a room, it was dark and scary. When they got to the door, it was locked, and the only way to open it is to answer the question correctly.
The question was (-4)-(+6)(-4)+(-6)= -11Owe 4 and owe 6= -11Spongebob yelled out the answer -11, and the door opened.Spongebob and Patrick kept on going. Then they saw a dark room. When they got in the room they saw the other 1/4 of the integer patty. Then Spongebob took the integer patty, and the doors started to close slowly. When the doors were all closed, an integer question appeared.(-2)-(-2)(-2)+(+2)= 0Spongebob answered 0 and the doors opened. When they got out of the cave Spongebob and Patrick put together the integer patty, and they were missing half of the integer patty.
Find out what will happen next.To Be Continued.............
Chapter 3: Spongbob`s Quest For The Missing Integer Patty
Spongebob and Patrick had found half of the missing integer patty. So Spongebob and Patrick kept on going. Right after they got out of the cave, Spongebob and Patrick went to the mall to look for the missing integer patty. When Spongebob and Patrick arrived at the mall, the first place they checked was the food court but they didn't find the integer patty. So, they looked inside a clothing store. When they got to the store, the doors were locked, and the only way to open it is answer the question correctly. The question is (-4) + (+3) Spongebob used algebra tiles to answer the question. (-4) + (+3)[Photo]Spongebob yelled out -1 and the door opened. They didn't find the integer patty in a clothing store.
Then they tried looking for it at the make store. While they were at the make up store, and they were about to leave, a big guy stopped them, and told them they can't leave, unless they answer the question correctly. The question is (+8) - (+2)(+8) - (-2) = 6have 8 and owe 2 = 6Spongebob told the guy the answer +6, and the guy let them go, but they didn't find the patty.Spongebob and Patrick went to another store.
This time they went to a shoe store. They checked every shoe box, but they didn't find the patty. Patrick saw a shoe box that they haven't checked. When Patrick opened the shoe box an integer question popped out, and it was (-5) + (+8). Patrick used a number line to answer it.[Photo]Then Patrick wrote down the answer +3 and he got it write, but the integer patty wasn't there.Spongebob and Patrick went to the hat store next.
They checked inside the hat. When Spongebob lifted up the yellow hat, another integer question popped out. It was(+2) - (+2)(+2) + (-2)= 0Spongebob answered zero, and he got it right. Then the other half of the integer patty came out of the hat.Spongebob and Patrick put together all of the parts of the integer patty, and they brought it back to Mr. Krabs. Finally, the integer patty was back to where it should be, and everyone was happy.
THE END.

The Backyardigans Journey Through Integers (:

One day, the backyardigans were bored in their backyard having nothing to do. While just sitting there Pablo says aloud "Lets do something we'll never forget, lets imagine we're at the magical forest of integers!". "That sounds like a unique imagination" says Tasha. "Pablo what exactly are integers?... the rest of us don't even know what it means" says Austin. Pablo says in a clear voice "Integers are positive and negative numbers". Pablo went on, now explaining how to add integers". "When 2 numbers are positive you can simply add the 2 numbers together, when 2 numbers are negative you add the 2 numbers together and the sum remains a negative number". "To add a positive and a negative integer you subtract the smaller number from the larger number and the sum will have the sign of what ever sign the larger number had."

Pablo and the rest started to image their surroundings from a backyard to a "magical forest of integers". The magical forest had tall trees with integers hanging from it, bushes had integers instead of berries on it, even the ground covering plant had numbers on them. Pablo and the friends were surprised by how colourful the "magical forest of integers" was. It had red numbers, blue numbers, light green numbers that matched the trees, yellow numbers and so many colors that you could possibly imagine. Pablo saw a path of rocks, with an arrow pointing to go down the path and so Pablo called the rest of the gang to follow along.

While they strolled down the path they reached a deer. The deer seemed very happy to see them, while they drew closer to the deer, the deer said in an excited but clear voice "Welcome, now that you are here you will be encountering many animals with "integer" questions, the animals will ask anyone of you to answer the question, when you finish the task you will see a "magical castle", the animal closest to the magical castle will hand you a key so that you 5 can go in the magical castle and each of you can make 3 wishes in the castle". The deer then turned to Pablo and said "here is your first question, if you answer this question right you may be able to go along with the rest of your journey". (+7)+(-2) the deer said. Pablo in his head thought of it as money. Pablo mumbled positive equals to "I have" and negative equals to "I owe". The answer is "+5" Pablo yelled aloud. "That is correct " the deer said, " now you may go along with your journey, good luck to the 5 of you" the deer said happily.

They once again went walking down the path. A few moments later a raccoon walk out from behind a bush and stoped right infront of them. As they drew closer to the raccoon it looked as if the raccoon was smiling at them. The raccoon said aloud and clear "Hi there, this is your second question", and looked at Austin. (-5)+(+7) said the raccoon. Austin looked down at the ground and saw 5 small rocks that would represent the negatives and 7 large rocks that would represent the positives, he thought of the rocks as "Chips". Austin shouted the answer is "+2"! The raccoon said excitedly "Terrific, that's correct, you may now follow through".

They were so excited they almost begun running down the path. Tasha yelled "look, its the next animal with our next question", and they rushed down the path. When they got near to the animal they could all see it was a fox. The fox said "Nice to see you, here is your third question", and the fox glanced at Tasha. (-15)+(+10) the fox said. Tasha invisioned a numberline in her head with the (-) negatives on the left, and the (+) positives on the right. She said in a questioning voice "-5". The fox immediately said "Yay! Good for you, now you may reach your fourth question."

They all started running at full speed down the path to know what the next question was going to be, and to see the next animal. They finally reached the animal and which the animal was a friendly bear. The bear said "Hello, I'm pleased to see you this far, here is your fourth question...hm..." The bear look at all of the backyardigans, and then pointed at Tyrone. (+6)+(-6) "here you go" said the bear. Tyrone mumbled "its a zero pair, so its "0"! he yelled! "Good job, now you better hurry along to see your next question" said the bear.

Will the backyardigans get to the magical castle and complete the task ?
TO BE CONTINUED ... (:

The Backyardigans Journey Through Integers Part 2.

The backyardigans are now even more excited to continue they're journey through integers. As they were walking down the path they noticed that the rocky path came to a end, and lead to a big open field. It basically was a sea of color, it was full of integer wild flowers. In the far distance they saw something that appeared to be a big black horse. They started to skip through the flowers, happily keeping their eyes on the animal ahead of them. As they drew closer they could all see that it was indeed a beautiful black horse. The horse stated galloping towards them as well, at last they met. The horse said "Hello, I am very pleased to see you all... here is your fifth question... The horse look very nicely at Uniqua... "-4-3" the horse said in a clear voice. "it is subtracting integers but its kind of like adding integers, remember that" whispered Pablo. "Oh ok, that helps" Uniqua mumbled. Uniqua thought and thought, it took her awhile in till she figured it out. "its -7!!, I also used integer chips in my head. "Well good job, now just follow that arrow in the field and it will take you to your next animal and question" the horse said.

They all saw the arrow and they started walking toward it, then they walked past the arrow. They walked ahead alittle further more and saw a animal but they couldn't make out what it was. Once they reached the animal they were surprised to see it was a buffalo standing beside a stream. The buffalo said "You have made it to your final question" the buffalo said and looked at Pablo. "If you answer this question correctly you will find the castle down the stream and over the hill, another animal will be waiting to give you the the key to the castle" the buffalo said. "Here is your question... Pablo... +2-+6+-2" the buffalo said in a loud voice. Pablo mumbled and mumbled to himself trying to think out the answer. He finally got it, he changed the question a bit to get the answer. "its -6" said Pablo. "Good job, that one was a tricky one but you got it!" said the buffalo excited. "You now must follow the stream, and when the stream comes to a end there will be a hill you must walk up the hill to see the next animal with the key to the castle" the buffalo said in a very clear and loud voice.

They started running down the side of the stream, the stream final ended and they reached the hill, the hill was a grassy hill with a lot of colors. They started walking up the grassy hill, it took them a very long time to get to the top of the hill but then finally they reached the top of the hill, and saw a kangaroo they drew closer and closer to the kangaroo. When they got close enough they heard the kangaroo say "Hey guys, you made it this far and i cant believe it, good work, here is now the key to the castle. Tasha immidantaly was super excited and grabbed the key as soon as she saw the key. Tasha grabbed Pablo, Austin, Tyrone, and Uniqua and she started running with them up to the castle, they all got really excited but not knowing what they would wish for. They final got to the door of the castle, Tasha took the key out of her pocket and she opened the door."Wow, this is AMAZING" said Tasha. "I cant believe we made it this far" said Pablo. The castle was huge, with a lot of color like everything else, the walls were made with great big stones. Each and every one of them made 3 wishes but 1 of the wishes was that they all wished to go back in their backyard.

The End.. (:

Breann's " The Great magicians"

Today was the dig day we had to go perform for this math festival. The festival was on integers but the magician did not know what to do. For the first performance he had a box in the box was a question, he called a person from the audience. He told the girl to open the box and out popped the question (-8)+(-8)=?. He didn't know what it was so he asked the audience what it was .... one guy had said -18 and some other guy said -19 but the answer was -16. So They guy was not right he also though it was -18 so the magician said that he had to go. He left to go to another math convention but this one was only for younger kids. He had 2 doors out of no where so he called one of the younger kids to add positive integers . (+8)+(+6)=? The younger kids thought of it as money as you have 8 dollars and you get 6 for allowance. And all the kids that answered had it right if they had though of it that way. But there was something wrong when they answer that question the other door opened. He asked for another volunteer. He had picked one of the older kids this time so he used a negative and a positive. (-7)+(+7)=? so he asked the kid he said 1 the magician told him no sorry that is not the answer. The next people he asked where all right they all had said (0).but the surprise for the kid was another question he had to answer so he passed it on to one of the middle aged kids they didn't know about integers yet so they had no clue what they where doing . The question was (-2)+(2)=? he had said one answer right away he had said (0) and he was right so the school got a prise the prise for the school was a program that only ahead programmers have . But the magician did not enjoy doing the four questions Because one of the questions he did was not right . He met a child after the show the child said "Hi how are you i just wanted to ask you a question?" i said OK. The child asked "Did you want to make the questions hard or was it not your decision because you are a magician that they just got picked ?" well i told her it really wouldn't be a magic trick if i had told you. I also said are those to easy or to hard because the questions are just popped in my head then i use magic and use them ? The child said well they are to easy and that you should do questions like this...... (9)+(7)=? (25)+(79)=? . Those questions are harder to do than those little questions she looked at me and said i thought you dont reveal youre secrets, but you already did.

Teacher Kon?!?!

Teacher Kon?!?!

I opened my eyes. I saw the sun that was shining brightly, it blinded me. I covered my eyes with my arm to prevent the sun blinding me. I went to a sitting position. Then I stretched my arms and yawned. It's a brand new day. The same old life until today.
I got off my bed
half asleep. Then I walked to the door but then sipped back because I slipped on my laundry that was scattered on the floor.
"OUCH! That hurts!" I said out loud.
Finally I was full awake. I looked up and saw a note on the door.

"Good afternoon Ayata! Did you sleep well? Are you happy that you skipped school? Well anyway the door won't open until you answer this question that mama will give you! Good luck Ayata!"

Your Loving, Mama!

I rolled my eyes and groaned. Then I threw my arms up.
"
Ahhh! Crazy mother! I'm horrible in math! How am I supposed to get out!" I said angrily.
The question was:

(-6)+(+6)+(+235)=?

Then I pointed at the question.
"Look at the big number! I'm so stupid that I don't even know the answer!" I yelled.
Then suddenly, my brown stuffed bear that was on the shelf jumped off and walked towards me. Then the "thing" started to talk to me. I was surprised.
"Are you stuuuuupid or what?!?! This question is easy as pie! Why can't a sixteen years old girl can't do it huh?!?" The stuffed animal shouted at me.
I started to cry. Since this was the first time in a while that someone shouted at me.
"I failed math every year...I always get 49% every time but I'm not stupid..." I said childishly while crying.
The talking bear then put his left hand on his head. His head moved back and forth and he sighed. A few seconds later, the stuffed animal looked at me. I flinched. I was wondering of what he might do.
"Ayata, I'll teach you, how to do it."He said putting his hands on his hips.
My eyes sparkled.
"Really? Thank you!" I said happily.
"First do you know about zero pairs?" He asked.
I pondered. I only knew what negative and positive numbers were.
"I'm sorry, I don't know..." I said sadly.
"hhhmmm...you are brainless but I didn't imagine that you're this bad.... Well let me teach you what a zero pair is OK?" he said.
I frowned because I didn't like people lecturing me, especially math, but then smiled quickly since he was teaching me. Then out of nowhere he put on glasses.
"Ahem, zero pairs are a pair of numbers, it has to be one positive and one negative number whose sum equals zero. The positive and negative number has to be the same number. For example, (-2)+(+2)=(0). Both numbers are the same but the sign in front is a positive sign or a negative sign. Do you get it so far?" he said to me.
I nodded at him with amazement. He was better at explaining it than my math teachers! I felt like I was so smart at getting the meaning of zero pairs
.
"Oh, oh, oh! I think I can answer the question now!" I said with confidence.
I took out a piece of paper. Then I looked at the question.
(-6)+(+6)+(+235)=?

I wrote down the question. Then I tried to answer it. (-6)+(+6)=(0). Afterwards I crossed out (-6) and (+6). So that leaves me with... (+235)!
"The answer is (+235) isn't it?!?" I said happily.
Then there door opened. It was silent. I looked around and the stuffed bear wasn't here anymore. Was it my imagination? I wondered. I didn't want to waste my time thinking about it, so I went downstairs and then I heard munching sounds. It was coming from the kitchen. I hurried. When I was in the kitchen, I saw him eating...my lunch!
"What are you doing?!? That's MY lunch!" I said loudly.
"What do you mean? I helped you so I get this for payment." He said with food in his mouth.
"Payment?!? I didn't agreed to that nonsense!" I said pointing my finger at him.
He looked at me.
"You're really bad at math and also your manners too I see." He said.
"Well you're the one munching while talking!" I said to him.
"Well at least I'm not as bad as you are when you eat with your mouth full." The stuffed animal said.
I was shocked. This animal, always has a comeback for what I say does he! It pisses me off! I was angry. Really angry. Then finally he said something.
"Fine. If you want your lunch back, you have to answer this question." He said while munching.
"What?!?! Another math question?" I moaned.
My stomach growled. It looks like I had to.
"What's the question this time..." I said to him.
"This time, there's no zero pairs.
The question is
(-9)+(-9)+(-1)= what?"
This time I at least know what to do. I think... First I got a piece of paper upstairs and drew
9 squares. Then drew another 9 and then 1 more.

Then I added the numbers up. 9+9=18+1=19. The answer is nineteen but a negative nineteen.
"The answer is (-19)" I said softly since I wasn't confident in my answer.
He looked at me.
"You're right but How did you get it?" he asked me.
I gave him the sheet of paper. He looked at it and was surprised.
"Good job...you used squares to find the answer. Good job indeed." he said amazed.
"Oh, by the way what's you name?" I asked.
He looked at me and smiled. Then he stood up.
"My name is Ichijo!" He said putting his hands to his hips.
I sighed and looked away.
"I shouldn't have asked, I'll call you Kon for now on..." I said.
"Why?!?"Kon yelled.
"Its because Ichijo is a cool name and it pisses me of that you have that name." I said to Kon.
"You're so unfair!" Kon said whining.
Then he passed my lunch to me. With a grin.
"Finally...I get to eat my delicious-"
Before I could finish what I had to say, I saw that Kon ate everything and that there was nothing left. I gripped the plate that had my lunch, really hard that it split in half.
"KON you...thief!" I yelled that everyone in the neighbourhood could hear it.
After awhile, I decided I should make my own lunch. I went to the refrigerator and open it. Nothing. Nothing was in it.
"What kind of person who has a refrigerator, doesn't use it!" I said to myself.
I closed the refrigerator door and took $20. Then I put my shoes on. I opened the door. When I took a step I stopped. I looked back.
"Kon I'm leaving to buy lunch!" I said loudly.
I closed the door and locked it. Then I headed to the grocery store nearby. It took me 7 minutes until I reached the store. I went inside and saw that there were a lot of people inside. I walked inside took a basket and went to lane 7 where the frozen foods were. I looked for what I wanted to eat. Then I found various things I wanted to eat, like hotdogs, pizza, icecream, and corndogs. I didn't know what to pick so I chose the cheapest one, the hotdogs and the most expensive, the pizza. I when to the counter. I gave the hotdogs and the pizza to the lady.
"It comes to...$10.05 young miss." The lady said.
I took the 20 dollars out of my pocket and gave it to her. She took it and gave me my change and a piece of paper.
"Your change is $9.95, and also here's a sheet that you should fill in to be in a draw. You could win a plasma t.v." She said smiling.
I looked at the sheet. I put my name and my address then the question....
"Oh great, another math problem today..." I said to myself.
The question this time was
(-2)+(-23)+(+20)=?
This time instead of a picture, I drew a number line.

"I see the answer is -5" I said quietly.
I wrote down the answer I got. Then gave the sheet to the lady.
"Good luck!" she said.
I waved at her and walked away. As I walked away I frowned.
"This is the worse day ever...math, math, and math. It's everywhere..." I said quietly so that no one can here but myself.
While I walked I felt like someone was watching me. I looked back. no one was there. 2 minutes later I stopped and I looked back again and there was no one there. Was it my imagination? Was someone stalking me? I asked myself. Then I heard a voice. I looked and there was a little girl.
"Mama look! A teddy bear! Can I keep it?" asked the little girl.
"Sachie, it belongs to someone already. Some little girl must be looking for it." The mother's girl said.
"OK mama..." said the girl sadly.
I looked what teddy bear they were talking about. When the little girl and her mother walking away I saw the teddy bear. It was Kon. I stomped on him so that he wouldn't escape.
"Ouch! Ayata even though I'm a teddy bear, I still have feelings you know!" he screamed.
I stomped harder.
"I knew I was being watched, I have a six sense you know. Why are you here anyway?" I said.
"Ow, ow , ow! I'm here because I'm lonely without anyone around you know. I told you before I have feelings too." Kon answered.
I sighed.
"I wish there was a pawn shop around so that I can get rid of you." I looked at him.
"Ayata you are so mean!" he yelled.
Then I heard people whispering. I turned around and saw that I was the center of attraction. Then I heard a lady talking.
"I feel bad for this young lady...Talking to herself almost like she's crazy." The lady said.
I cried. Then everyone saw me cried and left. I stopped crying.
"Ahhhhh! Look what you did Kon! They thing I'm crazy! I mean crazy!" I yelled at Kon.
"I stomped him as hard as I can. When I was tired I walking away angrily.
"Your punishment is not over yet Kon!" I yelled really loud.
I wanted to calm down so I went to Shima Park. I walked around hoping to find a good spot to just relax with no math around or Kon. I found a little hill and went there. I put the grocery on the ground and lied down. It was a clear day and it was very quiet. I looked at the clouds that was making pictures. Then I saw a cloud that looked like a monkey. I laughed. Then I saw a cloud that looked like a chair. After a few, I saw a cloud that looked like Kon. I frowned.
"Stupid cloud! Why do you have to look like Kon!" I groaned.
Then the next cloud I saw a an integer question. I frowned even more. I looked away but for some reason the cloud didn't move. I looked up again and sighed.
"This day is the worse." I mumbled.
I looks like I had to answer it. The question was

(+3)+(-234)=

"Hmmm...An integer question I see..." said a familiar voice. I yelled. "A mon...monster!" "Ha ha... ha very funny..." he said sarcastically.
"Kon what are YOU doing here?" I said.
"I'm here to help you answer this question!" he said.
"What do you mean, I'm smart now you can't call ME brainless anymore." I
sticked out my tongue at him.
"Well do you know any other way to solve it than pictures or number lines?" he said.
"Uuhhh...no I don't..."I said dumbly.
"So sad...I knew it...Teaching you will be hard work...Anyway I'll teach you a new way how to solve integers." he said.
"Another way?"I asked.
"Yes another way. It's some really easy for you to learn...I think. It's called "You have and you owe. It's something that has to do with money." Kon said.
"Yay! Something easy for once!"I said happily.
"OK, negative numbers are things you owe and positive numbers are thing you have. For instance, you have $3 and owe $4. How much do you have and owe?" asked Kon.
"Let's see....If I have $3 and owe $4 then...I will have... nothing and owe $1. Right?" I asked.
"Ding Dong! You're right! Now answer the question that the clouds gave you." he said.
I looked up in the clear sky. I have $13 and I owe a lot. $234 to be exact. I pondered. Then I got an idea.
"34-13=...21. So that means that I owe $221 dollars! That mean it's (-221)! Ah ya! I found the answer! it (-221)!"I shouted.
I looked at Kon.
"By the way is it right?"I asked him.
"Good job, it is now the clouds are going to give you a gift.
All of the sudden the clouds began to darken. Then I heard thunder. Thud! Then it began to rain hard. I was getting soaked.
"Oh great..Thank you clouds!" I shouted.
I got up and started to walk home...in the pouring rain...

PART II

The next day, I when to school. I didn't want to be with Kon for the whole day. At school I'm pretty unnoticeable. I'm like some sort of ghost that no one can see. (Well people some people can see ghost...)You know what the means...I'm pretty much a loner.

As the school bell rings, I walk to my locker. I took off my outdoor shoes and put on my indoor shoes. It always had been a habit to do this even though it's not snowing or raining. I got my binder, and went to room D1 which was my homeroom. There are 4 first year, second year, and senior year classes. I'm a first year at Skikaku High School. My home room teacher is Mr.Yohku and he is a slave driver! Aka Satan in disguise! The bad new is that he's the math teacher...Maybe he's the reason I hate math. I opened my binder to check what's first period. I gasped. No! It can't be! My first period is...Gym. The second thing that I hate the most is gym because you have to run and have partners. Since I'm invincible to everyone it's impossible to have a partner, and it's NO FUN!

I stood up and walked back to my locker to get my gym bag which contains my gym short and a T-shirt. Then slammed m the locker door. "I really hate school..." I said to myself. Then walked back to class for attendance. I walked ion the classroom but no body notice, but the teacher, Mr. Yohku. "YOU! Where have you been for these past 3 days!?!" He yelled at me. I covered my ears. Every time he yells at me. "I can't hear you..."I yelled at him. Then he got mad at me like always. "YOU! Go to the office!" Mr.Yohku and I said. Every time I see him I always was sent to the office for no reason. I actually like getting sent to the office because I always miss the gym or History class. Also I don't really get why he never calls me by my name even in attendance he calls me YOU. It's sad that this teacher is the only one that notice me but in the bad way though... "Stop imitating me!" He yelled at me once again. I glared at him. To tell you the truth, mama was right for once my manners were bad when it comes to respecting teachers...I mean REALLY bad. "Shut up old man." I said. I turned immediately and walked to the office. "Who are you calling old man YOU! You get detention after school!" He yells. I ignored his yelling like always and kept walking to the office. As I walked to the office, I saw that there was a unfamiliar face walking out of the office. He was taller than me and had black hair he had yellow eyes and he's expression looked like he didn't want anyone near him. It gave me the creeps for a minute. I stopped. He walked passed me with a smile that freaked me out even more. I turned around and no one was behind me. He "just" disappeared. I went in the office. Then sad down on the chair that was right beside the principal's private room. Then thought about what just happend. The door beside me opened and out came the principal himself.

OK, I lied about being a ghost. The principal was so kind to me that he was the only and only reason I went to school. If he didn't said he super long and weird speech, I would have quit school. That goes to show you that even I can be convinced but people. "Ayata! you been sent to the office again! I should have done something last time!" He said childishly. He's a principal but he's a person that never "acted as a really man." He said to me once that he prefers to be a child then be an adult and here's a result. A blond haired small man that loves sweets and bunnies...and also talks childishly to everyone but, don't be fooled by his appearance.... He's actually... "Ayata what's wrong?" He said worried. I snapped out and smiled. "Nothing at all." I said quickly. "Oh! That's good to hear! Now I want to show you a surprise that someone made for you!" The principal said. "Surprise? What is it?" I asked curiously. He smiled and gave me a flat rectangular shape. It was rapped with shinny red and yellow stripped wrapping. I tear on side of the wrapping. As I did that the principal moved back.
"What's wrong?" I asked him. "Oh, it nothing! Nothing at all! heh, heh, heh...." He said nervously. I was confused by his nervousness. Then I continued to teared the whole thing. Then saw a small letter. After the principal shut himself in his private room. I ignored the principal and read the letter and soon was irritated by the letter.

Dear my baby Ayata,

Aaawwww...You went to school! Mama is so happy! I hope you didn't get sent the office again but I know your in the office since your mama is always watching you... Well I know your bored so mama made something interesting for Ayata. It's a MATH QUESTION! Your happy right? right? I know you are! Also here's the fun part...There's a bomb somewhere in the school that I planted. If you don't answer this question correctly then... KABOOM! The school you hate so much explodes! It's fun isn't it? Well good luck! you have 22 minutes left. Remember mama is ALWAYS WATCHING YOU...

From your loving,

Mama!

I ripped the paper in pieces. Then I screamed. " AAHHHHH! Stupid mother! Why does she need to do these crazy things! And Why MATH?!?!" "SShhhhh!!!" Said the secretaries in the office. I covered my mouth and stopped shouting. "Ooopps... sorry..." I said quietly this time. I looked at the question that my crazy mother gave me.

(-6)-(+2)-(+24)=?

"Oh my god! I don't know how to do subtracting integers yet!" I said to myself quietly to myself of course. Then I looked at the principal's door. I stood up and knocked at the door. "Hey could you please help me?" I said but there was no answer. Then I knocked even harder but there was no reply. "Wow! When I needed him the most he's not here!" I shouted. "SSSHHHHH" said the secretaries. "Ahhhh! I don't care anymore."I yelled and walked out of the office. I went to the roof of the school. I only had 18 minutes left until this school explodes. I sat down on the ground leaning on the fence. I sat there and looked at the question. "What are you doing up here?" A voice said. I turned back and my eyes widen. It was the guy from before! The one that I met near the office! I felt a chill down my spine. "I said what are you doing here? Are you deaf? Do you need a he-ar-ing-aid?" He said. I snapped out and was starting to get angry. "It's none of you business!" I shouted back. He studied my expression and smile. "You'll turn old before I do if you get angry all the time and act like some old lady screaming." he said. "Shut up! Shut up! You're so annoying!" I yelled angrily. Then he stood up and walked away. "Weirdo." he said and disappeared down the stairs. "Hahaha! Finally someone had the courage to call YOU a weirdo!" said a familiar voice. I looked back and saw Kon beside me. "OH! it's Kon..." I said and punched him to the ground. "Ouch! That hurts!" Kon said. "Hey! help me answer this question. How do you subtract integers?" I asked quickly. "Why do I-" "Kon we don't have much time! I'll tell you after but first TEACH ME!" I screamed at him. Kon sighed. "Fine...I'll only explain it once so you better get it." He said. Then he took out a long piece of chalk and drew an example question. "To tell you the truth there is no such thing as subtracting integers! For example..." Then he drew (-2)-(+4)-(-6)=. "You have (-2)-(+4)-(-6). All you got to do is make it into an addition question and ADD THE OPPOSITE! Like this

(-2)-(+4)-(-6)= (-2)+(-4)+(+6)= Then add the negatives and positives together... Like this...
(-2)+(-4)=(-6) Then combine the positive and negative together....Like this... (-6)+(-6)= (0) Just like that...

"Do you get it?" he asked. "Yeah I do." I said and nodded. I then looked at the question that my crazy mother gave me and drew the question with the chalk that Kon had.

(-6)-(+2)-(+24)=?

"First I changed the...subtraction to addition right?" I asked Kon. "Yup." he answered. So that's what I did....

(-6)+(-2)+(-24)= "Then you add the negatives with the negatives and positive with the positives right?" I asked Kon again. "Yup!" He replied. Then I did that...

(-6)+(-2)+(-24)=....(-32)!

"That's it!It's (-32)!" I said.
Then I took out the device that came with the question. It said that I needed to write the question on the device to confirm my answer. I pressed - then pressed 3 and then 2.
Then I pressed enter. Then there was a long beep. BEEEEEEPPPP! I got scared so was Kon... What was it? I asked myself. Then the beeping faded after 2 minutes. It was silent until my mother showed up out of no where.
"Ayata! You're so smart! Mama is so happy and proud! My baby is all grown up!" Mother said while hugging me so tightly that she was suffocating me.
"Mo...Mother stop it! It's embarrassing to do it in public and I hate it when you do that! "I yelled at her while trying to get her off of me.
After 15 minutes of trying to get her off. I asked a question that any child would ask their parents.
"Mother what are you doing here, and why did you plant a bomb in the school! That's illegal you know!"I screamed at her.
Then my mother began to cry.
"Ayata is so mean to her own mama! Even when mama is trying her best to make her happy!"She screamed out loud that a bunch of students heard her and came to watch our "Mother and child fight." I pointed at her.
"Do you think that innocent act will help you?!?!You're a 40 years old woman don't act so innocent that you make you OWN child look like the bad guy!" I lectured her.
"Sorry... I planted a bomb in the school...I'll commit suicide here...because nothing can atone my sins!" mother said while climbing on the ledge.
"Ahhh! what are you doing stupid mother!" I said and pulled her so that she fell back.
She began to cry.
"Let mama commit suicide!Mama planted a bomb! Mama should be punished!Let mama go!" She wailed. "Non sense! You're only doing this for my own good even though it's wrong, illegal and I hate it! If you die who would take care of me?Wouldn't you worry about me even you're died?"I shouted.
Then there was silence. After my mother began to cry.
"Ayata I'm sorry!" She said and hugged me.
For some reason that I don't know, people begain to clap. This was the first time in school that people actually see me, and it's all becouse of my mother.
"Thank you" I whispered to my mother.
I stood up and smiled to my mother.
"I'm going now. I'll see you when I get home." Mother said.
After I turned back and when to the stairs. Where the people were gathered. As I walked by, I heard people whispering about my mother and I. I ignored it as it was nothing.I went down the stairs and I yawned.
"That was troublesome." I said as I stretched.
"It sure was!"said a voice I know very well. I looked up. Then I was surprised.
"EEEHHH! Why are you with THAT guy Kon?!?! Did you form an alliance with him to bug me or something?!?!" I yelled.
I stopped, and saw that Kon was held by the black haired guy that called me a wierdo. I didn't like him at all.
"Of course not stupid! I was caught while going back home and this guy suddenly caught me! I tried hitting and kicking him but-"
"He was soft like a pillow that it tickled." The guy said finishing what Kon was saying.
"Save me Ayata~" said Kon sadly. I looked at him and then looked at the guy. I sighed.
"I already when through something troublesome...fine I'll save you tomorrow." I said and started to walk down the stairs.
As i walked passed them the blacked haired guy grabbed my wrist tightly.
"Oww that-"
"So you don't care what happens to him Ayata? Even though he was the one that taught you baby math. How heartless of you."He said to me.
"Ayata..."Kon said.
I felt a little guilt in my heart I tried to ignore it but it wouldn't go away. I got mad at myself so I kicked the guy that had Kon and that was holding me tightly. My kick landed on his stomach. He let go off my wrist but not Kon. I tried to get Kon but he raise his arms that had Kon so that I couldn't get it. I tried to jumped To get Kon, but he used his other arm to push me away.
"Give him back!" I yelled.
"No I won't let you get you're stuff doll yet." he said as he pushed me and walked down the stairs and stopped when he reached the bottom.
"Wait! Who are you calling a doll!"Kon yelled at him.
I tripped and fell where the guy and Kon was. I suddenly thought that he would run away but the he caught me. "You better be careful next time."He said and smiled. I didn't listen to him and tried to grab Kon again but he moved back and I fell since I was leaning on him. "Ouch!" I said. I turned and saw him leaving.
"Hey! Give him-"
"You should loss weight! You sure were heavy!" He said.
"Hahaha! That's a good one!"said Kon laughing his head off.
"Hey Kon!! Who's side are you on anyway!?!?"I said.
I tried to stand up but then I fell. I felt a huge pain on my right foot that I twisted when he moved back and fell awkwardly.
"Damn it. I failed to get Kon back..." I said to myself.

It's after school and I was walking home from school when a little girl was crying. "I can't do it..." she said. I went up to her. "What's wrong?" I asked. The little girl looked up. She wiped her tears and looked at me sadly. "I can't open this box that has Ruby captured. He said that to open this box, I need to sovle this math question, but it's too hard..."She said to me.
"Math question?"I said.
"Yeah math question. The question is this." she said as she handed the box to me. I took the box and saw that there was a math equation on it. The math equation was

(+2)-(+2)+(+2)=...

"Wow this is sure a question that you can't answer!"I said. "Will you help me?"The little girl asked. I looked at her and smile. "I'll do whatever I can." I told her. First I need to change the subtracting sign to and addition sign and add the opposite. I told myself.

(+2)+(-2)+(+2)=

"Oh! I see a zero pair!So that means..."

(+2)+(-2)=0
(+2)=(+2)

"The answer is...(+2)! I did it I did-"
I looked around and no one was there. The little girl was gone and the box was too. Then I heard a voice.
"Thank you..."It said.
